Research on fuel supply control law of airstart for an aero-engine

  • The problem of airstart of an aero-engine was investigated. The enrichment in airstart of an aero-engine exists because the effects of flying height on fuel-feed characteristics are not considered for the original selfstarter. Various factors affecting the fuel-feed characteristics were investigated. A high altitude compensator was added to the original selfstarter to compensate the effects of flying height on fuel-feed characteristics. The mathematical models of original and improved selfstarters were built respectively. The simulations and tests verify the feasibility of the improved selfstarter,e.g.:airstart fuel supply flow decreases as the altitude increases as compared with the ground starter. The improved selfstarter can compensate the effects of flying height on fuel-feed characteristics and resolve the problem of airstart enrichment.
