Small scale mixing enhancement of fuel/air using multi-source vortex technology

  • With the multi-source vortex(MSV) structure fixed on the exit plane of axial swirler,the flow field of combustor was simulated and the effect of MSV on the mixing enhancement of fuel/air was studied.The total temperature of the air inlet was 294.28K and the fuel was ethane(C2H6).The results indicate that,a small scale streamwise vortex is produced downstream each tab,helping enhance the local mixing of fuel and air.The mixing non-uniformity is 13.0% for combustor without MSV,while it declines to smaller than 7.4% with MSV.The mixing non-uniformity decreases when the total blockage of tabs increases,indicating a mixing enhancement of fuel/air.
