Numerical simulation of the effect of blade tip blowing on a low speed axial compressor tip clearance flow

  • To understand the comprehensive effects of blade tip blowing,the flow fields of a low speed axial compressor cascade with/without blade tip blowing were simulated and analyzed.The results show that both blowing positions and blowing directions have important effects on tip leakage flows.Though blowing in radial and circumferential direction can change the distribution of tip leakage flow rate density,it is little beneficial to the stability improvement;blowing in axial direction can suppress the separation due to tip leakage vortex and then improve stall margin effectively.
