OH-PLIF measurement of syngas diffusion flame

  • Planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) measurement was conducted on swirling non-premixed flame in a model combustor,firing CH4 and syngas with different C-H ratios,in order to study the combustion characteristics of mid-caloric syngas flame in a gas turbine combustion chamber.Although quite different flame shapes were found between CH4 and syngas flame,instantaneous OH-PLIF images demonstrated the common turbulent flame features.Results also show that both flames are stabilized at the exit of the fuel injector,but CH4 flame burns more steadily.Quantitative analysis of flame reaction core shows that flame stability deteriorates with the increase of C-H ratio.
