Effect of different axial spacing between blade rows on transonic axial compressor performance

  • The steady flow field of a transonic axial compressor under design rotation speed was numerically simulated,proving that the close spacing between upstream stator and rotor can largely reduce the efficiency and pressure ratio,however the close spacing between rotor and downstream stator can improve the efficiency and pressure ratio.The unsteady numerical simulation indicates: (1) the close spacing between upstream stator and rotor can enlarge the interaction of rotor shock on the stator wake,causing the deterioration of performance; (2) the wake recovery effect under the close spacing between rotor and downstream stator decreases the mixing loss,thus slightly improving the performance.
