Investigation of a new combined type compressor's feasibility

  • The purpose of this research is to present a new concept of fluid compression, by combining characteristics of displacement compressor and impeller compressor.And as background, this paper carried out theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and experimental verification work. The results show that this new type compression has both advantages of displacement compressor and impeller compressor. And its stability is similar to the displacement compressor, but it has smaller volume than displacement compressor at the same mass flow rate; and higher pressure ratio and efficiency than impeller compressor.
