Wing optimization of large airplane by adjoint method

  • The optimization software was developed to improve the performance of the wing of large airplane.This software include the three main techniques:the aerodynamic configuration parameterization and grid update technique based on Bezier-Bernstein curve parameterization method;the flow solver and adjoint solver based on three-dimensional (3-D) Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations;the optimization method based on sequential quadratic programming algorithm.This paper did series optimization for a wing with many design variables and different constraints and get some excellent results,The analysis to the result shows the optimization method is reliable and efficient.
