Numerical and experimental study on inversing-rotating aero-valves of PDE

  • As a new concept aero-valve used in pulse detonation engine (PDE),inversing-rotating aero-valve was mentioned to improve one-way performance of the valve in this paper.A useful inclusion was obtained after a series of numerical investigation,that is,the swirl number is the key parameter affected the valve's performance.The optimum value of swirl number is approximately one.In addition,an aero-valve which swirl number equals to 1.364 was made to experiment.The experimental results without ignition demonstrate the conclusion revealed by numerical way.Finally,detonation waves at the operating frequency of 40Hz are obtained in a tube with inner diameter 114mm.
