Power-matching methodology in tip-jet drive rotor design

  • A power-matching methodology was promoted to decouple the interior-flow and external-flow of a tip-jet drive rotor,and a reaction drive model based on the engine exhaust gas property and duct flow condition was established,which including:influence of area,temperature,friction and rotor rotation.The rotor tension and torque was analyzed by a modified blade element method.The result shows that section thickness and rotary speed are main influential factors to the tension and power balance,and the represented method is a rapid approach to choose the jet rotor parameters in overall design stage.
