Grinding wheel dressing method for inner helical gear form grinding based on numerical simulation

  • In view of grinding interference produced in the process of inner helical gear form grinding,the grinding wheel dressing method for the inner helical gear form grinding was studied.On the basis of establishing the mathematical model of inner helical gear form grinding,the conditional equations sets conforming to the contact points between grinding wheel and tooth space were obtained by means of circle cutting,and then the wheel profile was found through solving the equations by using Newton iteration.The practical profile of wheel simulated by numerical method was compared with the theoretical involute tooth to inspect whether the gear grinding causes interference,and whether the radius of grinding wheel and its installation angle are correct.Wheel dressing and simulating analysis software was prepared based on Visual C++ 6.0 ,which can be used to select the grinding wheel radius and installation angle,and output the computer numerical control (CNC) program for dressing form grinding wheel.The practical inner helical gear grinding test and inspection results show that the dressing method is correct and the dressing software is feasible.
