Experiment on flow and heat transfer characteristics in trapezoidal passage of turbine blade trailing with different pin-fins

  • Experimental study was carried out to analyze the flow and heat transfer characteristic of trapezoidal channel fitted with staggered arrays of circle,ellipse,dumbbell and water-drop shaped pin fins.The results show that:with the same Reynolds number of inlet flow,the pressure loss of drop-shaped pin fins is about 57% of that of the circle pin fins.The cooling effect of the circle pin-fins was almost the same with dumbbell pin-fins which is 20% higher than that of elliptical pin-fins and 25% higher than that of drop-shaped pin-fins.The differences of the flow and heat transfer features of different inlet shapes were not distinct.The inlet flow through double arrays of holes had the higher pressure and better cooling effect in trapezoidal passage.
