Experimental study of atomization performance on a fuel slinger

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the atomization performance on a rotating fuel injection system in a fuel slinger test rig.Performance parameters such as fuel droplet size Sauter mean diameter (SMD) and spray cone angle etc was measured by using phase Doppler particle analyzer (PDPA) system under different slinger rotary speeds.The test results indicate that during the given rotational speed ranges,the fuel atomization cone angle of the slinger is gradually decreased with increasing shaft speed,the fuel droplet size of the slinger is gradually decreased while the rotational speed increased.Over than 25000r/min,SMD is not changed and kept constant,under the same rotary speed,the droplet size increased when the distance away from the fuel slinger hole increased.
