Visible/near infrared radiation characteristics of attitude-control engine exhaust plume

  • In order to study the plume radiation effects on optical detecting and imaging,based on the scatted theories of different diameter particles,the radiation transition equation and the database of molecular absorption lines,a program using the finite volume methods was developed to simulate the plume radiation characteristics in variable wave bands.Modeling the actual working conditions,the visible and near infrared radiation characteristics of attitude control engine plume working in lunar orbit was computed.In 0.4~0.9μm,the effects of composite gas component,the wavelength,the detected zenith and the solar incidence on the plume radiation were simulated and analyzed.The result shows that the program based on finite volume methods can simulate the plume radiation characteristic accurately and be applied diffusely;solar radiation is the greatest influential factor of plume radiation in the visible and near infrared wave band.
