One-dimensional unsteady analytical model of rotating passage

  • The main purpose of the research was to investigate one-dimensional flow and heat transfer activity in rotating passage of secondary air system in aero-engines by method of characteristics.Partial differential equations of rotating passage generally integrating invariability of flow area,friction and heat transfer were transformed to ordinary differential equations,considering the influence of the centrifugal force by rotation;and the Colebrook White equation was used to predict its loss performance,so one-dimensional characteristic numerical solutions of pressure,flow,temperature and other parameters in rotating passage were derived.Results were verified by commercial software Fluent,showing that the method of characteristics is visual by utilizing pressure wave to describe the flow in rotating passage,with the error not exceeding 5%.Thus,it is an efficient way of one-dimensional unsteady research on rotating passage in secondary air system.
