Influence of sunroof on flow field and aerodynamic noise inside the passenger compartment of the car

  • Numerical simulation and analysis of flow field inside a simplified Golf 1.6 car and aerodynamic noise at the receiving point around the driver's left ear were conducted by using large eddy model of computational fluid dynamics(CFD) software FLUENT.The velocity and pressure fields on the symmetry plane of the driver and sound pressure level at the receiving point were obtained.The results show that sound pressure level becomes smaller with the backward shift and widening of the sunroof.The sunroof of case 1 is the most reasonable.
