Abstract: A new technique of multi-point exciting for modal testing is discussed. In consideration of the trouble of phase shift in some experimental instruments, a new scheme is proposed to assign multi-point exciting forces and a practical method is provided to discern the modal parameters in pure modes. Calculations and experiments demonstrate that the new technique is applicable to the multi-point exciting experiments for general structures.
