Abstract:
The flow and heat transfer characteristics of the rotor stator disk system were investigated experimentally. The distributions of the pressure on the stator surface, temperature on the rotating disc surface, local and averaged Nusselt number of the rotating disk were obtained from the tests. Conclusions are drawn as follows:the temperature gradient near disk center is insignificant. The effects of rotating Reynolds number Re ω on the Nusselt number is complex and is related to inlet mass flow coefficient Cw and the clearance gap ratio G s .The averaged Nusselt number is dramatically increased with the increase of inlet mass flow coefficient. It was also found that the pressure on the stator increased with increasing rotation speed or mass flow rate.
